This libation, which we define as a 'Golden Ale', has a strength of 4% ABV.
Golden Ale brewed with Pale Ale and Caramalt. We hopped this beer with one hop from each of the decades of the Queen's life; all were bred in Kent and grown in Kent. Two hops were used for First Wort Hopping, four hops were then dosed in a Continuous Hopping regime. Wort was then passed through the Hop Rocket with four more hop varieties and finally the finished beer was Dry Hopped in the maturation tank. WGV (1932), Early Choice Golding (1948), Bramling Cross (1951), Progress (1967), Target (1972), Pilgrim (1984), First Gold (1996), Sovereign (2006) and Finchcocks' Hop X (2010). The first batch of beer was brewed with the help of Peter Darby of Wye Hops Ltd, the hopfather of four of the varieties we used and Ian Strang of Little Scotney Farm who grew 6 of the nine hop varieties for us.
