Now in its fourteenth year (and 2,928 days since
John Morphy took over as Landlord), this
Real Ale selling Micro-Pub is located in the main shopping area of Westgate,
within spitting distance of both Town Centre Bus Stops and the Railway Station
(The Bake can be hard to find, being down a discrete alleyway, between Coral's Bookmakers & The Carlton Cinema) Although the Bake has been here for many years, there are many who live in Westgate still don't know about it!
The Bake and Alehouse offers a selection of alcoholic beverages. What's on offer varies, but usually includes:
A selection on the whole, of between five and eight, different Real Ales -
To date, the Bake & Alehouse has had over 886 different
ales available (or on the stillage, waiting to be served), from over 190 different breweries On the 874 where we have recorded the strength, this has varied from 2.90% to 7.00%
A selection of Ciders - both Apple & other fruit (such as Mango & Rhubarb)
On top of
this range of drinks and a glorious choice of food (Pork Scratchings, Peanuts, Locally Sourced Pork Pies, & other pub snacks), there is also a range of Books (many CAMRA, but not all), a newspaper, a local area notice board, a few pub-games and, perhaps most importantly, some Dog Treats.
Westgate-on-Sea is a village on the Isle-of-Thanet in Kent, situated on the seaside, it is between Margate & Birchington (just a few miles from Ramsgate and under 15 miles from Canterbury).
Real Ales are offered from a range of breweries and, to date, The Bake & Alehouse has supplied beers from over 190 breweries/micro-breweries, including breweries on the Isle-of-Thanet, such as
Wantsum Brewery (brewers of 52 different ales, supplied up to today, at the Bake & Alehouse), 4 Candles (7 ales) and Gadds' (The Ramsgate Brewery) (45 ales).
According to records, since August 2012, the Bake has sold over 4,752 barrels. Over 3,324 of these have been sold since John Morphy took over as Landlord in May 2016.
