The very successful micropub in Westgate-on-Sea
Ciders, Perries and fruit-flavoured ciderUsually, the Bake & Alehouse offer a couple of ciders and have just started offering a refreshing perry from Dudda's. The Bake & Alehouse are also now offering a fruit flavoured cider from the Fruity Beauty range produced by Big Tree Cider in Hartley, Kent.
At the Bake & Alehouse in Westgate-on-Sea in Thanet, there are usually two ciders available from Biddendens.
This is a strong (around 8% to 8.5%), dry cider. As any experienced cider drinker would know, real cider is served at cellar temperaures rather than ice-cold and is, basically, still rather than sparkling (any 'fizz' being a side product of the brewing process and not a result of gas being added to the product).
This is another cider from the Biddenden Vineyard. It is slightly weaker than the own-name drink and is also slightly sweeter in taste - but it is still a Biddenden cider!.
Hot Monk's Delight
Yes, another cider from the outstanding Biddenden Vineyard. This Monk's Delight cider is a spiced mulling, normally servered as a 'hot toddy' - as a result it tends to be seasonal and generally on offer only during the winter.
This drink is a recent addition to the Bake & Alehouse's range. Coming in at 6% it is a medium perry (that's pear based cider) and very refreshing to drink.
Big Tree Cider
Fruity Beauty is Big Tree's new range of fruit flavoured cider. There is a range of Fruity Beauty's on offer including, strawberry, raspberry and blackberry. These fruits are mixed with a combination of Bramley and locally produced apple for a delightful summers taste.
