Currently in its eighth year (3 years, 9 months & 25 days since John Morphy took over as Landlord), this
micro-pub is located in the main shopping area of Westgate,
close to both Town Centre Bus Stops and the Railway Station
(The Bake and Alehouse is somewhat hidden, being in a discrete passageway, between The Carlton Cinema & Coral's Bookmakers) Although the Bake has been here for many years, there are many who live in Westgate still don't know about it!
The Bake & Alehouse offers a selection of alcoholic beverages. What's on offer varies, but usually includes:
A selection of between 5 and 8, different Real Ales -
To date, the Bake & Alehouse has had over 770 different
ales available (or on the stillage, waiting to be served), from over 160 different breweries On the 756 where we have recorded the ABV, this have varied in strength 2.90% to 7.00%
A selection of Ciders - both Apple & other fruit (such as Mango & Rhubarb)
Red, White & Rosé wines
Gin - with Fever Tree, or Schweppes, tonic
Other alcoholic beverages (some seasonal, some one-off)
Non-alcoholic drinks, such as
Coffee, Tea, Coke, Lemonade and 'J2O' - not forgetting FREE Squash for the Children
On top of
this great range of amazing drinks and a glorious selection of food (Peanuts, Hand Raised Pork Pies, Kettle Crisps, Pork Scratchings, & other pub snacks), there is also a newspaper, a local area notice board, a range of Books (many CAMRA, but not all), a few pub-games and, perhaps most importantly, some Dog Treats.
Westgate-on-Sea is a village on the Isle-of-Thanet in Kent, situated on the seaside, it is between Margate & Birchington (just a few miles from Ramsgate and under 15 miles from Canterbury).
Real Ales are offered from a range of breweries and, to date, The Bake & Alehouse has supplied beers from over 160 breweries/micro-breweries, including breweries on the Isle-of-Thanet, such as
4 Candles (brewers of 6 different ales, provided thus far, at the Bake & Alehouse), Ramsgate Brewery (Gadds) (37 ales) and Wantsum Brewery (39 ales).
